What do Americans in the US Like Most About Their Country?
As an avid hiker and lover of nature, recreational lands, and breathtaking national parks, I can confidently say that the US is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. My favorite thing about my country is our national parks and thousands of federal/state recreational lands. These expansive natural areas offer a lifeline to beauty and tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere.
Living in a state enveloped by some of the most incredible fresh water lakes in the world is a privilege. These stunning water bodies offer a haven for various water activities such as kayaking, fishing, and boating. On leisurely summer days, you can find me exploring these amazing lakes, taking in the serene surroundings and experiencing the marvels of the great outdoors.
National Parks and Recreation
From the majestic Grand Canyon to the sprawling Shenandoah National Park, the US is a nation of natural wonders. These parks and lakes not only provide untouched natural beauty but also offer a respite from the busy, urban life. They serve as outdoor classrooms, where one can learn about plant and animal life, and engage in activities that promote adventure and active living.

Amidst the natural beauty, there are also challenges. The rude behavior and lack of respect, especially among members of my generation, has become a significant source of frustration. Growing up in a lower-income household, my parents instilled in me the values of respect and community. A key example is my experience at San Jose State University (SJSU). Rudeness and rational disregard for others were common occurrences, and it led to a disappointing and unhappy college experience. At events like cruise trips and social gatherings, I have noticed a general lack of consideration and a tendency for people to behave proudly, at the expense of others. I have chosen to leave such environments and move on to other opportunities where I can find more respect and kindness.
On social media platforms and in discord chats, I have encountered a great deal of rudeness, particularly from younger generations. College students often disregard others, engaging in harsh, disrespectful interactions. While there are certainly exceptions, the overall trend is one of impoliteness and self-centeredness. This has led to a realization that the ethos of respect and kindness that I once held dear is not as prevalent as it should be.
Conclusion
While the beauty and natural wonders of the US continue to captivate me and bring joy, the challenges of rude behavior and disrespect have made me reconsider my place within certain social circles.
