Understanding Fascism: A Guide for the Sceptical
Easy question but let us make it easier. Do I trust reliable sources or what someone says on social media?
For example, my mother some time ago heard on the NEWS about a terrible hurricane that devastated Puerto Rico. Many were suffering and in need. Then she heard from a lady on Facebook that Puerto Rico was fine; she had just come from there. How many actually ask serious questions on Quora and how many know what a troll is?
It seems not to matter. I have been seeing some very smart and intelligent answers on Quora, no matter the motivation behind the "question."
Judging by the amount of far-right nutjobs that think it exists on the left, not many do. Fascism is and has always been an extreme form of right-wing authoritarian nationalism. Most people look at the authoritarian part and think THAT is fascism, and yes, it is a part of it. But it's only a part. You need to look at the whole thing and the whole thing means a far-right authoritarianism.
Donald Trump is actually the closest to a fascist President we've ever had. He's not quite that far yet, but he's getting close.
It is easy to look up but it is easier to simply use it as a pejorative. Ignorance is bliss.
