The Quest for Comfort: Why Quality Toilet Paper Matters
When it comes to toilet paper, the decision is often driven by cost, convenience, or sometimes, sheer necessity. However, the choice between cheap and scratchy toilet paper and its softer, fluffier counterpart can significantly impact our daily comfort and health. In this article, we will explore why investing in quality toilet paper is a smart choice and how it provides more than just basic hygiene.
The Demise of Scratchy Toilet Paper
Toilet paper… can’t live without it or so say the hoarders. I buy whatever is on sale; it could be soft or scratchy… doesn’t matter, it just gets the job done. But beyond the price tag, there’s a world of difference between cheap and quality toilet paper. The scratchy kind can lead to discomfort and even abrasions. Despite the cheap price, it’s not worth the discomfort it brings.
Investing in Comfort
Picking up the softer, fluffier option, like Charmin, can make a huge difference. Unlike the cheaper, scratchy alternatives, premium toilet paper not only feels better but also performs better. The question is, is it worth the cost? In many cases, it is. While the initial expense may seem high, over time, the better quality toilet paper can actually be more economical. The soft, durable paper lasts longer and requires less usage, which might offset the higher cost.
Personal Experience and Wisdom
One thing I’ve learned in my 65 years is that you get what you pay for. Quality always wins, whether it’s in food, clothing, or cleaning products. Toilet paper is no exception. High-quality TP is economical because you don’t need to use nearly as much, and it just feels better. There is no point in rough, scratchy anything on any part of one’s body! Otherwise, we might as well go back to using dried corn cobs on our butts.
The Comfort Factor
When it comes to the toilet paper I use on my body, I adopt a “treat myself” mentality. Comfort is paramount. I prefer sturdy toilet tissue as the fluffy stuff is not very useful and tends to come apart, causing more irritation. However, I usually buy store-brand tissues that are just as good but cheaper than the national brands. However, an interesting event six months ago highlighted the variability in quality. I bought one of my usual store brands, and for some reason, it was much stiffer than usual, about 33% of the way to being thin wood. This kind of variability is concerning and highlights the importance of consistency.
The Bottom Line
Ultimately, the decision to buy quality toilet paper boils down to comfort, health, and wise investment. The initial cost might seem steep, but the long-term benefits of a comfortable and hygienic experience make it a worthwhile investment. So, the next time you’re in the store, consider treating yourself to the softer, more comfortable option. Your body (and your wallet) will thank you.
