SBI PO 2020: My Journey, Lessons Learned, and the Path Ahead
Originally, I was satisfied with the results of the SBI PO 2020 exam. My candidacy was, however, cancelled due to CIBIL protocols followed by SBI recruitment. Despite the setback, I reconciled with the situation, focusing on the positive aspects of my preparation and performance. This article will delve into my SBI PO journey, the lessons learned, and the challenges faced.
Background and Initial Satisfaction
My journey with the SBI PO 2020 started when I received the notification around Diwali. I had cleared the IBPS PO 2019 and the BOI PO, but my ultimate goal was to pass the SBI PO. After the IBPS PO 2019 notification, I started my preparation for SBI PO. My basic concepts were clear, and I began practicing through Oliveboard mock tests, which helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses. During the preparation, I faced ups and downs, but I remained committed to improving my scores with each attempt.
Exam Preparation and Preliminary Exam
The preliminary exam on January 5, 2020, was challenging, with a very competitive atmosphere. However, my performance was satisfactory, with a total of 83 attempts. My scores were 30 in English, 25 in Quantitative Aptitude, and 28 in Reasoning, resulting in a total score of 67.75. Despite this, I felt confident about clearing the preliminary round and proceeded with the mains preparation.
Mains Preparation and Main Exam
After the preliminary exam, I focused on General Awareness (GA), which I started preparing for from the beginning. I also continued to work at my BOI PO position, balancing the demands of work with my preparation. On the main exam day, January 29, 2020, I felt prepared but still kept a cautious mindset. The exam consisted of Reasoning, Data Interpretation (DI), GA, and English sections. I found the reasoning section manageable, though DI was a bit challenging, so I took extra time to ensure accuracy. The GA section was particularly demanding, with me having to take calculated risks. The English section was a relief, as the difficulty level was similar to previous SBI PO exams.
Descriptive Section and Interview
The descriptive section was the most stressful part, with some candidates facing issues with keyboard functionality and spacing. However, I managed to write my essay and letter without any complications. After the objective test, I felt confident with the results. The interview came next, where I felt relaxed due to my previous experience and confidence in myself. I excelled in the interview, which gave me further assurance of my selection.
Final Results and Future Plans
On March 16, 2020, the final results were announced, and I knew right away that I had cleared the exam. Despite the initial disappointment of my candidacy being cancelled due to CIBIL protocols, I was relieved to have overcome the setback. My interview score was 47 out of 50, and I was selected for the SBI PO role. This experience taught me the importance of persistence, preparation, and believing in oneself.
Lessons Learned and Moving Forward
This journey taught me several valuable lessons. Firstly, the importance of strategic preparation cannot be overlooked. Consistent mock tests and a clear understanding of the exam pattern are crucial. Additionally, managing stress is key, especially during the main and descriptive sections. Finally, maintaining a positive mindset and believing in one's capabilities is essential, even when faced with unexpected challenges.
For those preparing for SBI PO 2021 and other coming exams, I offer my best wishes. Remember, a dream worth having is a dream worth fighting for. Stay focused, stay committed, and most importantly, never give up on your dreams.
