Mastering NEET Preparation: A Comprehensive Guide for High Scores

Mastering NEET Preparation: A Comprehensive Guide for High Scores

To score high in the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is not a rocket science. So, let's get the fear out of your mind. You do not need to study 18-20 hours a day; 10-12 hours daily with consistent effort for even 1-1.5 years can be enough. However, if you start late, be prepared to increase your study time.

Physics

In my personal experience, I scored 675 in NEET 2023 by following these key strategies:

1. Make Comprehensive Notes

Make notes from the teacher at your institute. These notes will serve as a valuable resource for revision and practice.

2. Regular Revision

Always revise your notes before each class and also go over the questions from your notes. This will help solidify your understanding of the concepts.

3. Practice as Much as Possible

Make sure to practice a wide variety of questions. Don't ignore your modules, as they are essential for exam preparation. If your teacher asks you to write important lines, focus on these notes as they will help you recall information during the exam.

4. Conceptual Clarity

As theory questions are becoming a part of the NEET paper, ensure you have a clear understanding of your concepts. Make formula sheets if you aim for 170.

5. Regularity is Key

Don't skip study days, and try to maintain a consistent schedule. Sticking to a study plan will help in gradual progress and better retention of knowledge.

Chemistry

In chemistry, both physical and organic chemistry require dedicated effort, while inorganic chemistry can be studied using a unique approach:

Physical Chemistry

Practice a large number of questions to master the subject. Ensure you read the NCERT books at least once for each chapter.

Organic Chemistry

Make reagent charts as they will help you in solving questions. Follow the notes from your teacher and do not ignore NCERT. Read it at least once or twice.

Inorganic Chemistry

For inorganic chemistry, I followed the advice of Mohit Sir from Pulkit’s Way (PW). He taught us concepts in reactions and some other techniques that made learning easier. We only needed to read NCERT 1-2 times, which helped me a lot. This method made me fall in love with inorganic chemistry and I did well in it.

Biology

Biology requires a structured approach to ensure you cover all the concepts comprehensively:

Conceptual Focus

Many would suggest rote learning from NCERT, but I found it easier to focus more on concepts. I practiced a lot of questions from each chapter and solved my modules and NCERT at my fingertips.

Note-taking and Revision

Add important NCERT lines to your notes and revise them 4-5 times. NCERT is the standard textbook, and notes are a useful supplementary resource.

General Tips

Here are some general tips to help you prepare effectively:

Post-class Revision

Always read your teacher’s notes after every class and before the next one. This will help you absorb the information better and prepare for upcoming topics.

Maintain Regularity

Do not get complacent even with your favorite subjects. I found my lowest score in chemistry, which I was my favorite subject, so remain consistent and avoid complacency.

Balanced Study Schedule

Do not waste time but also make your life manageable. Try to allocate 3-4 hours daily for studying and include some time for relaxation and social activities. Talk to friends who give you positive vibes. I had conversations with 2-3 friends daily and they were very supportive.

Experiment with different methods until you find the one that works best for you. These tips and strategies are drawn from my 2 years of experience.
