Is Greta Thunberg's Activism Prioritizing Ideology Over Education?

As of my last update in August 2023, Greta Thunberg had been taking a break from school to focus on her climate activism. She has been involved in various protests and campaigns to raise awareness about climate change. However, specific details about her current school attendance or plans after August 2023 are not available. For the most recent updates, you might want to check the latest news sources.

Are Schools a Barrier to Ideological Fulfillment?

The original question that sparked my curiosity was:

People like her are pursuing an ideology and learning facts in school would just get in the way of that. Ideologues and megalomaniacs are convinced of the virtue of their ideology or their self-importance and reject anything which conflicts with that. Thus Greta can say 'how dare you!' with self-righteous indignation and has no need for further education since she believes that she already knows everything that needs to be known and she is after all being rewarded for her ideological megalomania.

Many brilliant individuals have faced similar situations, such as:

Why didn’t Einstein speak as a child and was considered retarded? Why did Gates and Zuckerberg drop out of Harvard instead of finishing their degrees? Why do brilliant people often reject norms to pursue their own passions? Why did Elon Musk, who has Asperger Syndrome, drop out of Stanford Graduate School?

The answer often lies in the pursuit of personal passions and the belief that continuing education might be an obstacle or delay in achieving their goals.

Greta Thunberg's Return to High School

For Greta Thunberg, Time's Person of the Year in 2019, she has returned to high school after a year of groundbreaking activism and unique experiences for a teenager. On 24 August 2020, Thunberg ended her break and resumed her studies.

Thunberg used to go to school until she was goaded into sailing across the Atlantic to scold world leaders and blame them for her ditching class.

The question remains: does this absolve her ideological beliefs and actions from criticism? Many argue that screaming at politicians won't make a better world and that Greta, as a young activist, is a Trojan Horse used by progressives to gain public adoration and avoid intellectual evisceration.

The Role of Ideology in Climate Activism

Progressives often use children to be the face of the movement because they understand that critics will take a softer approach. They can't intellectually eviscerate a poor autistic young girl after all. However, this use of children as activists is increasingly being called into question. Critics argue that injecting moral imperatives into science, especially climate science, can destroy scientific impartiality and therefore the true value of science.

I don't blame Greta. I blame her parents for using her in this way. It smacks of Munchausen by Proxy. I don't know how they manage her finances, but it is the status payoff and the public adoration that such parents are often after. I've said the same of cults who use children in this way. Kids have a right to a protected childhood. Greta believes politicians have stolen her childhood, but it was really her parents and their belief system that did this to her. They don't know any actual climate science either.

So, go be outraged that I dared to criticize this young woman. What progressives are really after is power and complete control of discourse. They will get neither.
