Boris Johnson’s Cabinet Choices: A Critique of Sajid Javid, Priti Patel, and Dominic Raab

Boris Johnson’s Cabinet Choices: A Critique of Sajid Javid, Priti Patel, and Dominic Raab

It was clear from the beginning that Boris Johnson would surround himself with hard-right individuals. My initial opinions of Dominic Raab and Sajid Javid are yet to form, but I find Priti Patel’s participation in government purely revolting.

Assessing the Capabilities and Qualities of Johnson’s Cabinet Picks

Given the role of Sajid Javid, Priti Patel, and Dominic Raab within the Cabinet, one can hardly trust any of them. If I owned a McDonald’s franchise, I would not entrust them with any position, as they lack the mental capacity to perform basic tasks. They would demand refunds and compensation constantly, or worse still, bring the business into disrepute.

While Sajid Javid is not the worst choice, he serves as a prime example of Boris Johnson's "anyone can achieve great things" narrative. Javid's parents were immigrants and his father worked as a bus driver, giving him a lower-class background. This factor might make him slightly more relatable to the Conservative Party, but his suitability as a Chancellor is questionable given his lack of relevant experience.

Assessing Dominic Raab’s Role in Government

Before his position as Brexit Secretary, Dominic Raab was often regarded as a boring non-entity. His admission that he did not realize the importance of the Dover-Calais crossing for UK trade significantly diminished his credibility. Currently, he is seen as a rather stupid and uninteresting figure.

REVIEWING PRITI PATEL'S FIT FOR THE HOME SECRETARIAL ROLE

Priti Patel should never have been given such a high-profile position. Her resignation last year due to secret unauthorised back-channel communications with Israel and her subsequent lies to the Prime Minister further highlight her unsuitability for government. Her loss of her previous position was not due to in-fighting or a matter of principle, but because she was terrible at her job.

RAAB'S STRUGGLES AND FAILURE IN THE BREXIT PROCESS

Dom Raab's inability to recognize the significance of the Dover-Calais port and the UK's reliance on it for trade is another sign of his incompetence. His resignation over an agreement he helped negotiate only highlights how poorly he handles high-pressure situations. He has a reputation for making a fool of himself, which is why his position was ultimately untenable.

CRITIQUE OF BJ'S CABINET CHOICES AND CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF JOHNSON

Boris Johnson is surrounding himself with sycophants solely to bolster his ego, not with facts and truth in mind. His Cabinet picks lack the necessary acumen to handle the complexities of their roles, a fact that is reflected in their past performances.

Johnson, while appointing these individuals to government, also engaged in a criminal conspiracy to commit assault. This adds another layer of complexity to his decision-making and suitability for leadership. While there's much to criticize about his leadership choices, it's clear that his Cabinet reflects his values, however misguided they may be.

His Cabinet choices reflect a sweeping disregard for truth and competence, and there is much work to be done to improve the overall quality of his governance.
