How was your IIT Kharagpur VGSoM Interview?

Interview Duration: 30 minutes
Profile: GEM 9/8/8, 3 years of work experience in the IT industry.
Panelists: 3 professors and an alumni (P1, P2, P3).
Interview Time: 3:30 pm. Recommended to join 20 minutes prior. Joined early, but waited until 4:10 pm due to unexpected circumstances.
Interview Process
P1 (Professor): Started with a quick introduction.
Me: Struggled to introduce myself due to the surprise and initial nervousness.
P1 (Professor):
If you have read statistics at any point in time. If I know what is coefficient of variation and standard deviation. What are your strengths and weaknesses?P1: Explained my weaknesses, and encouraged me to keep them as they are beneficial traits.
P2 (Alumni):
Why didn't you try for UPSC? What specialization you plan to do in your MBA? Types of frauds that happen in a bank. What is phishing and how it works. Google captcha process. Why not go for an MTech?P2: Suggested staying in the IT field as it’s the future and encouraged careful thought before leaving the job.
P3 (Professor): Asked about solving a probability question using dice. Initially, the approach was lengthy, but was able to answer the question by reversing the concept.
What is blockchain and its advantages? Explained big data and DBMS. What is Hadoop and the difference between structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data. Examples of unstructured data.P3: Did not find the answers satisfactory, concluded the interview.
P1 (Professor): Allowed me to leave and thanked me.
Overall, the interview was average but challenging, with some unexpected questions and a lack of knowledge in certain areas.
